Who turned out the lights?
Sunday afternoons we try to do a fun thing as a family. We go swimming, or go for a walk in the gardens, but we just try to get away from the chores of the weekend. This Sunday, we went to Walmart. Yes, it isn't that fun, but it was too hot to walk and too cloudy for the pool. The whole time we were gone, it rained. There was thunder and lighting, but mainly lots of rain. We turn back into our neighborhood and wow, it looked like a war zone: branches were down, leaves and pine needles were all over the road. "It looks like hail," I said to Mark. "Woo-hoo, new roof!" Mark brought up my car, which was parked out side "woo-hoo, we can finally get your car fixed!" Well, it wasn't hail, apparently there were just some strong winds. Trees were down all over, included one that crack in half onto our neighbors car. Some trees fell over, pulling their roots up, including the one on the power lines.
You would think a night of no power would be fun every once in awhile, all those candles, but the fact of the matter, it is really dark, and you can't really do anything. Well, besides that. I was really bummed because I had a bunch of stuff on my dvr to watch, and it turns out, you can't really read by candlelight. Of course, I decided to wash our only pair of sheets that Sunday and put them in the dryer just before we went to walmart.
The power came back on at 1:53am, almost 12 hours after it went out.

Can you imagine how it was back in the "olden" days, when they had no electricity? I'm glad that none of the trees hit your house....
