Ernest Money

I really thought that our house would be under contract by now. We had a pretty good offer, and were working out the details. One of the sticking points was the Ernest money. Their offer had ernest fees of $500, option of $50. That is basically the money you would lose if you back out of the contract. The reason it is important is if we go through the trouble of moving out of the house only to have the deal fall through at closing, we would be REALLY stuck. We basically countered that those fees be doubled. That wouldn't cover us if we did not end up closing, but it would hopefully provide more incentive for them to be serious. We haven't heard anything since our counter, which is really weird. You would have thought we would have at least heard a yes or a no. I am bummed, but that means we get to live with my parents a little longer...YAY!! We don't have a house here we want to buy yet anyways, so I guess it is just as well.

Sweet vs Unsweet Tea

So, I tried to put one over on DH last night. We have been drinking sweet tea for the past year, but I am worried about the calories. I decided I wanted to switch to tea sweetened with splenda. Mark is very sensitive to the artificial sweeteners and I knew I had my work cut out for me. I made the batch with half sugar and have splenda. It seemed like a good way to ease into it. We had a lovely dinner: veal parm, spaghetti, good wine, and Mark and I had tea. Afterwards, Mark said, "thanks for making the tea, I meant to do it." I smiled and replied, "no problem!" relieved because I started getting a little worried when he brought up the tea. Then he hesitantly asks, "um.....so how did you make it?" My mom knew my little secret and started laughing, but I just looked at my husband and told him, "I hate you." Then I confessed. Drat.

A Word of Warning

If you are one of those people who is a right, brained English type, this may not be the blog for you. Thanks to an ergonomic keyboard, a very short time every day to do this, and the fact that I am a bit lazy, this blog might be filled with typos and spelling errors. All I can hope for is that I make sense. That sounds like a good goal for the time being.

Oh, and the posts might be really short as well. I need to shower while DS is napping.
